Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs)
Fortune 1000 corporations, governmental agencies, educational institutions and minority entrepreneurs turn to the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council (HMSDC) to find firms where they can purchase goods and services. HMSDC is the premier private sector certification organization for minority entrepreneurs.
HMSDC’s implements the certification criteria that was created by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). In order for businesses to receive the designation of a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) they must successfully complete a detailed process that ensures our corporate members the applicants are a for-profit business that is at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by one or more ethnic minorities who are U.S. citizens.
Houston is responsible for certifying minority businesses in the following regions:
- North to Huntsville and College Stations
- South to Corpus Christi
- East to the Louisiana Border
- West to Austin County/LaGrange
